PIC was a vocational photography college in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
It began as a Technical School Course in 1982.
At its peak it had over 120 students studying photography full time at a post VCE level.
Peter Barker and William Heimmeran set up the course at a time when there were few secondary level courses available.
The course began at what was then Brighton Technical School. This name was changed to Brighton Bay Secondary College.
In 1992 the course shifted physically to another campus in East Hawthorn. The campus was John Gardiner Secondary College. The team rebranded itself as PIC Photographic Imaging College here. The campus it was situated on, eventually became Hawthorn Secondary College.
The staff who worked there changed over the years.
Some of these staff were, in no particular order.
- Peter Barker
- Mick Sirianni
- Gayle Slater
- Chris Manteris
- Myer Bloom
- Kevin Birks
- Johann Krix
- Tracey Claire
- Adrian Valance
- Stuart Murdoch
These staff worked across both the Brighton site and the East Hawthorn site.
The course continued there until 2013. It moved to another college and eventually renamed itself NCAT Photography in 2020.
PIC ran a blogspot blog from 2005 to 2012, after which they hosted a self published Wordpress site and blog.
